Hello from the vibrant city of Las Vegas! I’m Dr. Poles from Omni Dental, and I’ve just wrapped up an incredible two-day journey at the “Denture Basics and Beyond Course” held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton on University Center Drive. It’s not every day that you get to blend learning with some entertainment in the city of lights!
Day 1: Diving Deep into Denture Dynamics
The first day kicked off with an in-depth analysis of denture creation, tracing the path from traditional methods to the latest digital advancements. Dr. Qun Collins, a seasoned expert in removable dentistry with over 26 years of experience, led the course. Her approach was not just theoretical but intensely practical, focusing on real-world applications that can transform how we practice dentistry at Omni Dental.
The hands-on sessions included digital scanning and live demonstrations, providing us firsthand experience in crafting immediate dentures, flippers, and conventional dentures. What struck me the most was the simplicity and efficiency Dr. Collins brought into these processes, aiming to reduce overhead while enhancing service delivery.
Day 2: Hands-On with Implants and Case Reviews
The second day was even more thrilling as we moved onto reviewing various cases and implementing implant-supported dentures. The practical, hands-on approach allowed us to interact directly with the materials and equipment, giving us a tactile grasp of implant technology and its integration into removable dentures.
Mastering the art of creating durable, snap-on dentures supported by implants was the highlight. This skill is crucial as it combines functionality with aesthetics, providing patients with solutions that are not only effective but also visually pleasing.

Of course, a visit to Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a little entertainment. I had the pleasure of attending a Michael Jackson tribute show, which was a fantastic way to unwind after a day filled with learning and networking. The energy of the city and the show was a perfect cap to the intense learning sessions.
